I’m appointed as an associate professor (cooperative graduate school program) in Faculty of Medicine, University of Tsukuba.I’ll give lectures and training programs for the graduate students in the PhD course in biomedical sciences.

I will be awarded Tsukuba Encouragement Award (Young researchers division) from the Science and Technology Promotion Foundation of Ibaraki. This award is given to “Researchers who carrying out current research in the prefecture(age below 40), and with potential to achieve significant research results”. On October 2, 2019, I will give an invited lecture at Tsukuba Conference (筑波会議) in Tsukuba International Conference Center. In order to join this conference, it needs to apply.Please see the information below.

I wrote a part of a technical book from Springer Nature. Hayashi Y, Ohnuma K, Furue MK. Pluripotent Stem Cell Heterogeneity. Adv Exp Med Biol. 2019;1123:71-94. doi: 10.1007/978-3-030-11096-3_6. PubMed PMID: 31016596.

On June 9, I gave an invited lecture at Society for In Vitro Biology in Tampa , Florida, USA. I introduced my studies and our bioresource entitled “Disease Modeling Using Disease-specific iPS Cell Collection in RIKEN Cell Bank”.

A new technical staff, Henmi-san has joined. She has much experiences in culturing human iPSCs and related experiments in other universities and institutes. Let’s do the best science together!

Two new trainee students has joined in our team this year.They are undergraduate students in Japan.Let’s do their graduation research studies together at best!

One year has been passed since I started my own lab. Thanks to many people who have supported us. Now, our team is made up of 10 people. And, it will increase a bit in this year. We seeded some project project last year. Some of them have been successfully sprouted. We grow them very carefully until they will bear fruit. I wish that you will continue to favor us with your support. Yohei Hayashi
